A bill to reform customer billing by the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans has the unanimous support of the Louisiana House.
On Tuesday, House members voted 99-0 to approve House Bill No. 965 and send it to the state Senate.
The bill requires the water utility to give customers the choice of paying a fixed monthly rate until an automated meter is installed on their property.
The monthly rate would be the average of recent bills.
